Envy. Jealousy. Resentment.

Ever feel like your star isn't as bright as someone else's despite your best efforts? It's easy to feel the like the Little Engine that Could while they seem like the big fast worry free locomotive! Damn do things always go their way? Can their grass get any greener? Why is mine struggling to stay green?!

Comparison is the thief of joy. Yet comparison is a natural normal often incentivizing piece that's pretty difficult to avoid.

So how do we compare enough to benefit but not get caught up turning green with envy?? It can be tricky.

In the past day I've encountered this exact challenge in two different life circumstances, but from two different perspectives.

In the first I'm a total outside observer- I can easily see a hurt sad wounded person feeling the achievements of another as a misguided personal direct insult to their efforts & ultimately their identity. ๐Ÿ™

In the other situation I caught myself feeling a little tinge of annoyance for the good fortune of someone right along with pure joy for their win. Huh ๐Ÿค” So I sat with the feeling & asked myself why the tinge of ๐Ÿ™„?

๐Ÿ’ญBecause they have more. It's unnecessary. It's extra.

๐Ÿ’กOk, so what? Was it taken from you? Do you have what you need?

๐Ÿ’ญI do have what I need. In fact I have SO much more than I need. (Currently reading a novel about life in rural France during WW2 confirms that) But those that have more have it easier & will do more great things & feel more happy good things.

๐Ÿ’กReally? Happy is an inside job. I can be happy because of my circumstances OR completely irrelevant to my situation. Scarcity of joy & needing to gobble it up to hold tight to it is a false belief. Flip it- use EXPANSION- seeing other joy makes my joy more possible. ๐Ÿ’—

Deep breath. This feels better.

Reminder: It all doesn't matter. We're playing life on a rock speeding through space. Choose the focus with intention... I choose to notice the brightness of other stars & use it to collectively power any star I am or touch. ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ
